Head Chef

We're on the lookout for a Head Chef in Porirua who can take charge of our kitchen operations while keeping the food delicious, consistent, and great value.
This isn't fine dining it's all about good, satisfying meals made with care and served with pride to our loyal members and customers. If you're someone who values both flavour and teamwork, we'd love to hear from you.
What's on offer:
- An attractive salary package of approx $80,000 (negotiable)
- A flexible roster with no late nights - kitchen closes at a very reasonable 8.30pm

What you'll be doing:
- Keeping food costs in check, reducing waste, and serving up generous portions at fair prices
- Handling the flow of service for both daily meals and special functions (up to 200 attendees).
- Creating weekly rosters that balance staff needs and wage budgets
- Building a strong, reliable kitchen team that enjoys coming to work
- Running a clean, organised, and compliant kitchen
- Staying on top of food safety records and cleaning schedules
- Being part of a down-to-earth, community-focused club
Who we're looking for:
- Someone with solid experience running a kitchen (in a club, pub, café, or similar setting)
- Good at organising shifts and bringing out the best in your team.
- Strong food cost and portion control experience
- Excellent knowledge of maintaining FCP compliance
- An active listener who puts customers first - no throwing pans in this kitchen!
- A calm, clear communicator who can bring out the best in their team
