Second in Charge – Kitchen (Sous Chef)
The Role
We’re looking for a talented Second in Charge of the Kitchen to support our Head Chef and help lead our kitchen team. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be actively involved in prep, service, and maintaining high food standards. You’ll step up to lead in the Head Chef’s absence and play a key role in menu execution, stock control, and training junior staff.
Must have open NZ work rights – no visa sponsorship available.Key Responsibilities
Assist the Head Chef with day-to-day kitchen operations.
Lead the team during service when required.
Maintain consistent quality and presentation across all dishes.
Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and inventory.
Uphold food safety and hygiene standards.
Train and mentor kitchen staff to ensure a smooth workflow.
About You
Previous experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie.
Strong leadership skills with a collaborative approach.
Excellent knowledge of food safety and kitchen procedures.
Organised, reliable, and able to work well under pressure.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
