  • About the team At the heart of Maritime New Zealand’s success is the provision of a broad range of administrative and other business support functions.

The purpose of the Business Support Team is to provide coordinated, efficient and high-quality support to the Board, Executive and various teams, playing an important organisational role in ensuring strong connections and collaboration within teams and across other support functions.

Te tūnga | The role Working closely with the Deputy Chief Executive (DCE) Regulatory Operations in relation to day-to-day operations and workflow, this position reports to the Manager Business Support in the Office of the Chief Executive, People & Culture group.

As the Executive Assistant for Regulatory Operations, you are responsible for providing a range of support to the DCE and General Manager – General Regulatory Operations, including diary and correspondence management, meeting and events organisation, executive support and from time-to-time assistance with onboarding new employees, and budgeting and reporting support.

The Executive Assistant plays a trusted role as a contributor to the Group’s leadership team discussions.

Nōu te rourou | What you bring Experience as an Executive Assistant supporting senior leaders in complex environments Strong capability with digital tools, especially MS Office and document management systems Confident minute-taking, agenda preparation and providing high-level meeting support Skilled at managing complex issues and influencing stakeholders Proven discretion, confidentiality and sound judgement Self-motivated, flexible and proactive Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence at all levels Strong risk awareness and problem‑solving mindset Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines Advanced written and verbal communication skills Political acumen and understanding of the public sector Willingness to travel occasionally Ability to work in a culturally safe and respectful way, with awareness of Te Ao Māori and Treaty of Waitangi principles Mōu | For you Maritime NZ recognises and respects te Tiriti o Waitangi and we are committed to working with Māori to build strong, meaningful and enduring relationships to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.

Appointment range $77,759 to $92,063 depending on skills and experience + superannuation.
