About the RoleWe are seeking a Surgical Registrar to join our Surgical Department here at Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers' Memorial Hospital. The training year commences on 2 February and mid-year starts 3 August 2026.
The Registrars are responsible for the day to day management of inpatients under the care of a designated Consultant. They are also responsible for the assessment and treatment of patients referred to hospital acutely with surgical problems. These may be patients referred for admissions on acute days or be patients who have previously been cared for by the team and whom the team as accepted for re-admission.This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Our service is fully accredited for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) Surgical Education and Training (SET) programme, offering a robust platform towards your professional development.
About the Team/Service/ LocationThe successful candidate would join a team of 13 Registrars with the full support of 9 General Surgeons, 3 Urologists and work closely with 8 House Officers.
Hawke's Bay Hospital is a 400-bed secondary level public hospital in Hastings, serving a population of over 180,000 people. About you- You're a Resident Medical Officer (RMO) PGY3 or above
- You've ideally completed a placement within Surgery at Registrar level
- You are registered or eligible for general registration, with the Medical Council of New Zealand
