Wellington's iconic Boulcott Street Bistro is looking for an experienced Sous chef to join our close-knit kitchen team. We are a very busy restaurant serving European influenced bistro dishes that hero local ingredients. We are hoping to find a new team player who will want to continue developing their career while also bringing their own experiences and management to our established kitchen.

We are looking for a talented and passionate chef with 3 years relevant experience at Sous Chef level. That said, whilst experience, confidence and attention to detail are a must, we equally value attitude, ambition, work ethic and being a team player.

We proudly showcase local produce, with our dishes inspired by European cuisine and cooking techniques. We strive for high quality, handcrafted food with most items made from scratch in house, and our menu changes frequently to give our chefs an ideal creative environment in which to work and grow.

You will be the key player in the exceptional execution of our kitchen. The role works closely with our head chef to continue to bring a high standard and excellent execution to what we do. Other tasks include assisting with menu development, training members of staff, preparing all dishes to a high quality, monitoring presentation and compliance, food inventory and ordering.

The role is full time, offering 40-45 hours/week on average (and we are closed on Sundays). The role guarantees a minimum of 30 hours per week and a maximum of 50. Competitive hourly rate and staff perks apply, as well as potential relocation assistance for the right candidate.

The role is based in Wellington.

Priority will be given to applicants with longer term ambitions (eg. 1 year +). This is not a short-term role. Please note, only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
