**He angitutanga / The opportunity:**
We are looking for an enthusiastic **Full-Time Sous Chef** to work at our **Defence site in Waiouru.**
You will be working across 7 days a week, availability to work over weekends will be a requirement. Immediate starts available for the right candidates!
**Waiouru** is is located on the south-eastern North Island Volcanic Plateau, 130 km north of Palmerston North and 25 km south-east of Mount Ruapehu, 30 minutes from Taupo and similar distance from Ohakune (takes you longer to get to work in Auckland!). World renowned Tongariro National Park and Whanganui National Park set the backdrop for truly unique New Zealand experiences.The community is proactive and offer plenty of events you can chose to be a part of.
**Ko o kawenga / Your responsibilities:**- **preparation, cooking and presenting between 100-500 meals** whilst ensuring the quality of every dish we serve!
- to cook **a la carte**, standard home-style meals along with bulk salads within budget
- assist with ordering and menu development
- ensure the health and wellbeing of our customers through allergen and nutrition management.
- able to work unsupervised and also in a team environment
- assist with receiving and storing kitchen supplies
This position is all go. On one day you will need to be able to produce meals in large volume whilst on another serving an la carte menu, another a five star dinner or regimental dinner and always to strict timelines. You will need to be flexible in the areas you work and on occasion take the responsibility for running the kitchen.
**He korero mou / About you:**
Our ideal candidate will have:
- at least 3 years' proven work experience in a similar role,
- bulk cooking and fine dining experience,
- will hold food safety certificates (Unit Standard 167 and 168).
- will hold a full driver's license
Bakery experience is not essential but is a bonus.
