Hirock Operations Manager (2IC)

With six branches and a team of 55+, Hirock operates state-of-the-art mobile and fixed plants, driving innovation and excellence in quarrying.
The Opportunity:Step into a pivotal leadership role where you will help shape the future of Hirock. As Operations Manager (2IC) and based in Palmerston North, you will work closely with the Business Manager Aggregates to drive operational performance, champion safety, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
You will be empowered to make a real impact - optimising people, assets, and processes, and supporting our sister companies.
What you will do:- Lead with a 'safety first' mindset, ensuring all quarries operate to the highest standards
- Drive operational excellence—meeting production, financial, safety, and environmental targets
- Champion improvement initiatives and best practice across all sites
- Maximise the availability and utilisation of people, assets, and equipment
- Oversee customer pricing
- Mentor and support site managers, empowering them to make key decisions and develop their teams
- Coordinate and oversee projects, schedules, and consents, ensuring seamless execution
- 5+ years’ experience in quarrying, with deep industry knowledge
- Proven leadership in quarry/mining management; A or B Grade Quarry Manager COC preferred
- Mobile Crushing experience will be highly regarded
- Strong written communication and report writing skills
- Commitment to safety, health, environment, and community
- Financial management expertise—budgeting, cost control, asset, and staff management
- Passion for continuous improvement and innovation
- Salary $130,000 - $150,000
