The Kestrel is looking for a senior CDP or sous chef for our restaurant in Devonport.

The restaurants focus on fresh, seasonal and sustainable New Zealand produce. We have both full and part-time roles available for chefs that enjoy cooking with fresh produce.

The kestrel is a gastro pub right on the wharf in Devonport over looking the water. We are looking for a couple of creative chefs who can work well under pressure. We have a short seasonal menu using excellent kiwi produce. Are goal is to become the best gastro pub in New Zealand and need the right team in place to achieve this.

The kestrel has had a busy summer and we believe winter is going to be huge so we want to get the right people in now.

We pay well and have made the Kestrel a great place to work, we can 35 to 40 hours per week.
Must be able to manage a team.
Must be able to run a service with 3 - 5 other chefs
Must have excellent food hygiene levels
Must have good communication with front of house team

Must be creative and come up with specials

We are a busy Gastro pub som must be able to organise your prep and section swell as helping others be ready for service.

The ideal candidates for both roles will need to:
  • have a valid New Zealand work visa
  • have at least 3-5 years of work experience
  • have a passion and love for cooking
  • have an interest and / or desire to learn about new and interesting New Zealand produce
  • be willing to turn up to work on time and ready to be part of a team.
