Head Chef / Cafe Chef

Kia ora, Kakariki Coffee is seeking a full-time Head Chef to lead our kitchen and become an integral part of our small, dedicated team.

• Monday to Friday only – enjoy your weekends off
• Daytime hours – no late nights
• 37–42 hours per week
• Supportive, tight-knit team culture

As our Head Chef, you’ll be solely responsible for the day-to-day operations of the kitchen. This is a hands-on role that requires confidence, independence, and a genuine passion for quality food.

• Lead kitchen operations and maintain high food standards
• Develop and prepare a dynamic range of cabinet items, baked goods, and menu food
• Manage kitchen costings, stock, and menu planning to ensure efficiency and profitability
• Communicate directly with the business owner regarding kitchen performance and improvements
• Support the team while maintaining leadership in the kitchen

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a café chef role
• Strong skills in both cabinet food and short-order cooking
• Creative, reliable, and efficient under pressure
• Excellent time management and attention to detail
