About the role
We have some new opportunities to join the Precinct Food Chef team. If you're passionate about producing excellent food and joining a talented team, we'd love to hear from you.
This is for a permanent, full time position. This role will see you working within our catering, café or baking teams creating fresh, hand-crafted food to the highest standards.
What we're looking for- We source and use top quality products and are looking for someone who can both bring their energy, expertise and passion to the team while learning from others, creating high-quality delicious food.
- Excellent knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation
- Strong problem-solving and multi-tasking abilities to thrive in a busy kitchen
- Positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team including guiding and supervising junior team members
- We operate a respectful, friendly working environment and you will be skilled in fostering this within your team and other departments within the business.
- You will be hard-working, efficient, reliable, focussed and professional with a can-do attitude
- You will need to be able to work flexible hours to meet cafe and client needs
- Have a desire to continue learning and developing on your professional journey
- Prior commercial experience is required.

Precinct Food is operating from a brand new, purpose built kitchen in Midland Street along with a full cafe at Tuhura Otago Museum. Our values are based on handmade food, crafted fresh each day using the best ingredients and maintaining the highest food safety standards.We use sustainable business practices, and strive to exceed our client and customer expectations. Our café is open 7 days a week where we serve contemporary and fresh food in a freshly refitted cafe space. Our catering operation provides for corporate and private clients throughout greater Dunedin as well as specialised catering services and food experiences.
