Sous Chef -Thai Food

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and prepare authentic Thai food and other cooking activities in a timely manner.
  • Develop innovative restaurant specials and experiment with ingredients to create new menu items.
Ensuring variety and quality.
  • Required to maintain the effectiveness of kitchen performance and ensure quality of food is consistent.
  • Monitor and manage kitchen staff to assure best possible food operations quality.
  • Supervised seasonings as per taste of Thai cuisine, portion control and plating of food items.
  • Provided assistance to Chefs to assure appropriate preparation with respect to taste and keep up with delivery time.
  • Determining food inventory needs, stocking and ordering.
  • Monitor and manage costs relating to food and produce. Ensure that kitchen operations are cost effective
  • Ensure that all kitchen maintenance tasks are fulfilled.
  • Being responsible for health and safety practices, and food control plan mandates.
  • Ensuring the kitchen meets all regulations including sanitary and food safety guidelines.
  • Check the freshness of food and ingredients
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and other food preparation workers
  • Develop recipes and determine how to present dishes
  • Inspect supplies, equipment, and work areas for cleanliness and functionality
  • Hire, train, and supervise cooks and other food preparation workers
  • Communicate with front of house management to ensure smooth work operations between front and back of house.

Skills & Qualifications: EITHER a relevant degree or certificate or at least 5 years of relevant work experience.
