Chef de Partie / Experienced Grill Chef

The Old Vicarage is a busy suburban restaurant in Halswell, open 7 days a week and known for great food, a fun team, and a fast-paced service.

We’re looking for a motivated Chef de Partie / experienced grill chef to join our kitchen team. Full-time or part-time hours are available.

About the role:

• Minimum 1–2 years’ experience on the grill preferred
• Confident working busy brunch and dinner services
• Ability to run a section and maintain high food quality and presentation
• Opportunity to run shifts and supervise junior/commis chefs (experience welcomed but not essential)
• Must be available to work nights and weekends
• Salary negotiable depending on experience

• Experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene (subject to audit)
• Calm under pressure and well organised
• Able to work unsupervised and as part of a team
• Excellent communication skills with FOH & BOH
• Takes pride in prep, cleanliness, and consistency
• Quick-witted with a good sense of humour is a bonus!

Key responsibilities:

• Food preparation and service across brunch and dinner
• Grill work during busy services
• Running the pass and assisting with shift supervision
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and tidy work environment at all times
• Ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation
