Thai Chef

Simply Asia is seeking individuals to fill two (2) Thai Chefs in Blenheim

Objective: plans, oversees, and organizes the preparation and cooking of Asian food in the restaurant.

• Plan,develop and improve menus.
• Estimate food costs.
• Order food supplies and oversee deliveries ensuring supplies stored safely and hygienically.
• Monitor quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.
• Manage and train staff, including delegate tasks ensuring they work efficiently and effectively.
• Prepare, season, and cook Thai/Asian food.
• Check all food safety regulations and procedures fully complied with.
• Report any defective equipment or safety hazards with the kitchen.
• Control departmental costs and expenses and conduct regular wastage checks.
• Assist in achieving the weekly/period budgeted food gross profit percentage margin.
• Ensure safe working procedures comply with statutory and company health and safety regulations, especially fire precautions, manual handling, chemical usage and storage, disposal of waste materials, and reporting of accidents.
• Demonstrate techniques and advise on cooking procedures.
• Collaborate with the Restaurant Manager to set and achieve sales goals, as well as maintain customer satisfaction.

A minimum of 35 hours of work per week.

• At least 3 years of chef or cooking experience is required.
• Asian/Thai cuisine knowledge is advantageous.
• Must be willing to work during weekends/public holidays, late nights, and under pressure.
• Ability to communicate with team members.
• Be able to follow instructions.
• Be able to priorities and organize daily workload to ensure everything is achieved as required.
