Summary:
Lone Star Queenstown is a well known & loved hospitality venue, established in 1991 in the heart of Queenstown. We are a busy, fun & vibrant restaurant and bar with three different function spaces.
Hours of work:
- Minimum 30 hours per week per week, Minimum pay rate $27.50 per hour and maximum $30 per hour
- Multiple full time and permanent positions available
- This would be a rotating roster with weekend and public holiday work required. Normally 5 afternoon/evening work with 2 days/evenings off.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- To ensure that all food prepared in the kitchen meets quality standards and specifications
- To comply with all health & safety, and hygiene standards, and to maintain a smart appearance
- To ensure that the highest quality of preparation and presentation is met at all stages of preparation and presentation
- Work stations will include prep, hots, colds and grill
- To assist the managers in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring that all food quality, hygiene, safety and customer service standards are adhered to
- To offer ideas for improving cooking and preparation techniques
- To be punctual and to meet scheduled time frames for prepping and cleaning duties
- To train, coach and develop new staff
- To place orders, and ensure that supplier invoices and deliveries are constantly matched
- To actively try and achieve good costs of goods and wage costs
- To work in well with the BOH team and kitchen management, and assist in achieving food and wage cost targets

- Ability to produce quality food at a fast pace and under pressure of time.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and to be approachable with excellent people skills.
- An appetite for producing great food and exceeding customer expectations.
Knowledge / Skills Required:
- 12 months experience working in a high volume kitchen preferred
- Sound knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques
- Good communication skills.
- A good grasp for food service detail in terms of assessing quality, weight and portion size.
- An understanding of health and safety, and food hygiene standards.
- Experience and/or qualifications in cooking and food preparation, health and safety and food hygiene standards is beneficial
