Position: Relief CookLocation: Gems Rata in Lake Hayes
Duration: 3-4 months (covering medical leave)
Schedule: 3 days per week Hours: 8:30am - 2:30pm
About the Role:Gems Rata is seeking an experienced Relief Cook to join our team on a temporary basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled cook to contribute to our early childhood education centre while our regular cook recovers from shoulder surgery.
As our Relief Cook, you will play a vital role in providing nutritious and delicious meals for the children in our care, with a particular focus on baking that serves both our centres.
Key Responsibilities:Baking Excellence: Prepare and bake high-quality baked goods for both Gems Rata and Gems Kowhai.
Allergy Management: Demonstrate expertise in baking for children with food allergies and dietary restrictions.
Food Ordering: Manage and coordinate food ordering for the centres to ensure adequate supplies.
Menu Planning: Assist in creating nutritious and appealing menus that meet children's dietary needs
Food Safety: Maintain strict hygiene standards and follow food safety protocols.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with centre staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Requirements:Essential: Proven experience as a cook or chef, with strong baking skills.
Specific experience baking for children with food allergies and dietary requirements.Ability to manage food ordering and inventory.
Food safety certification (or willingness to obtain).
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Desirable: Previous experience in early childhood education settings.
Knowledge of nutritional requirements for young children.Experience in a similar relief or temporary cooking role.
