For over 16 years, Vino Restaurant & Wine Bar has been Orewa’s hidden gem, offering a contemporary Mediterranean dining experience featuring handmade pastas, pizzas, and delicious desserts.

We’re seeking an energetic Chef or skilled Sous Chef to join our kitchen team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented chef in time, to potentially step into a leadership role as we look to expand our Vino Restaurant portfolio with a second restaurant on the North Shore.

• This is a permanent role; therefore, we will not be accepting overseas applicants or those on working holiday in NZ.
• Full-time position with weekend work required (Tuesday–Sunday).
• Lead a close-knit team in a family-oriented restaurant with a fun, supportive culture.
• Showcase your creativity with Mediterranean cuisine, from fresh pastas to authentic pizzas.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, hygiene, and kitchen efficiency.

• Oversee all kitchen operations, ensuring 5-star food quality and presentation.
• Develop new menu items in collaboration with owners.
• Manage stock control, ordering, and food safety compliance.
• Train and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a positive team culture.
• Uphold health & safety standards, including food storage and hygiene practices.

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in professional kitchens (NZ or overseas).
• Passionate about high-quality, authentic Mediterranean cuisine.
• Strong leadership, organisation, and communication skills.
• Flexible availability (evenings & weekends essential).
• Humble, hardworking, and team oriented.
