The Strong Room is a locally owned restaurant and bar in the Manawatu town of Feilding with a fantastic range of bar, dining and function areas and we are looking for a Chef to join our team.
We are looking for a keen, team player who is ready to boost their career and is no stranger to working in a busy kitchen. You’ll be working alongside a close-knit team of professionals who will guide you and are passionate about creating consistently delicious and high-quality food.
We are looking for someone a minimum of 3 years experience in a chef position.
You’ll have the following attributes:- Good communication skills
- A good understanding of kitchen skills and equipment
- Experience in different sections of the kitchen-larder, grill, (pastry a bonus)
- Ability to follow a recipe correctly and efficiently
- Honest, reliable and excellent time management
- Ability to cope under pressure and adapt speed to busy services
- Personal pride in presentation and professionalism
- Willingness to learn and be upward moving is essential
- Up to date knowledge of current food control plan
- Naturally enjoys people and contributing to a positive working environment
- Efficient, accurate and a strong appreciation of following systems
- Consistent performer no matter the pressure from guests, team and outside influences
- Willingness to be hands-on during key service times – weekends and evenings included
- Track record of reliability and consistent performance essential
- Interest in trying new/different cooking methods and keeping up to date with food trends
- Willingness to adapt to customer requests/needs
You'll have two consecutive days off each week and hours will be between 30-40 (can be open to negotiating less if necessary).
