Bar Manager

Warring Group, the award-winning team that brought you the internationally-renowned King of Snake & ROCA has opened Hugo, a new French restaurant on Level 1 of Oxford Terrace.

We are seeking a Bar Manager to:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the restaurant’s bar;
  • Create cocktails and the beverage list across both Hugo and another one of our restaurants, Botanic
  • Train and provide day-to-day oversight and motivation to all ourl bar staff, to a high level of performance, with assistance provided by our office team;
  • Maintain clear and hygienic working environments within the bar areas
  • Manage stock ordering and maintaining adequate stock levels
  • Manage the bar budget and keeping within it;
  • Ensure staff maintain high levels of service at all times;
  • Managing shifts and weekly rosters, and maintain restaurant service levels when the Restaurant Manager is absent
  • Ensure that the Warring Group Limited’s company policies are adhered to;
  • Ensure daily communication on operational issues with the General Manager and the office team;
  • Instil a team environment which results in staff retention;

The position is well remunerated, at between $32 and $34 per hour, and involves working at least 35 hours per week.

The nature of our business means that the job does involve regular late nights. Also, from time-to-time, depending on business requirements, you may be asked to work within another of Warring Group's Christchurch locations.

The role requires:

  • Someone of at least 20 years of age further to the requirements of the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012;
  • At least three years of relevant experience or a relevant qualification;
  • Experience in managing a team in a restaurant or other fast-paced environment;
  • A Duty Manager’s certificate or a willingness to go through to process to obtain one;
  • Excellent personal presentation;
  • Willingness to work and lead from the front within the business;
  • A passion for customer service;
  • A desire to be part of an industry leading restaurant group;
  • A friendly, positive, and warm persona that contributes positively to guest experiences;
  • A willingness to learn, adapt and grow;
  • Excellent communication skills; and
  • A trustworthy and reliable nature and background;
