Seeding Machine Operator

We are New Zealand biggest herb grower, growing 20 plus different herb varieties, year-round. Our operation involves growing in different covered and uncovered cropping systems including an APEX glasshouse, poly tunnels and outdoor field crops.

We have two machine operator roles available.

The Production Specialist– Seeding Machine operator:

We have 2 seeding machines a Mayer Pot Seeder and Daros Barrel Seeder

We’re looking for a reliable and detail-focused Seeding Machine Operator to play a key role in delivering our daily production plan. In this hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for managing the seeding area, operating and adjusting equipment to ensure efficient and accurate sowing, and consistently meeting quality standards for seeded products.

You’ll work closely with managers and growers to maintain smooth machine output, manage seed and supply stock levels, and ensure accurate batch creation and data entry for full crop traceability. A strong focus on cleanliness and GMP standards, along with clear communication and a proactive approach to maintenance and process improvements, will be essential to success in this role.

The Production Specialist– Post-harvest Multivac Packing Machine operator:

We’re looking for a skilled and attentive Postharvest Packing Machine Operator to join our Packroom team and help deliver high-quality product ready for dispatch. In this role, you’ll be responsible for operating and monitoring the Multivac packing machine, ensuring it runs efficiently while maintaining product quality and label accuracy during changeovers.
You’ll manage packing speeds, adjust machine settings, and ensure materials such as webbing, labels, and ribbons are readily available. Working closely with the Packroom Task Leader, you’ll support delivery of the packing plan, communicate any quality or material issues, and respond proactively to maintenance needs.

A strong focus on hygiene, routine cleaning, and attention to detail will be essential to ensure consistent performance and compliance with standard operating procedures.

Job requirements: Physical fitness and the ability to be on your feet all day.

To not be sensitive to the heat or the cold.
For compliance reasons you’ll need to be a non-tobacco smoker.

The ability to work weekends.

You will be required to wear PPE each day, safety boots, high vis vest, and possibly a hair or beard net – all of which will be provided.

Please also note, you need to be a permanent New Zealand resident, New Zealand Citizen or have a current work visa for this position. There is some availability for part time and casual work, please inquire if this is what you maybe interested in.
