Position Details:
  • Hours: 44 hours per week* (weekend work and away work available)
  • Monday to Thursday: 7:30am – 5:00pm
  • Friday: 7:30am – 4:00pm
  • Competitive hourly rate + 3% KiwiSaver
  • Vehicle provided for work-related travel (work to home)
  • Tools, uniform, PPE, and work boot allowance provided
  • Sociable, fun, and positive workplace where teamwork and a great attitude are highly valued.
  • May be higher when completing work away.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Landscape Construction Team Leader, you’ll have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of high-end projects, including but not limited to:
  • Hardscape and Softscape Installation: Set out and install structures such as retaining walls, gravel areas, concrete, paving, fences, decks, trellises, pergolas, BBQ areas, and more.
  • Lawn and Turf Preparation: Prepare areas for lawns by spreading topsoil, planting grass, and laying instant turf.
  • Irrigation Systems: Install and maintain irrigation systems to ensure efficient watering.
  • Client Coordination: Communicate effectively with Project Managers to ensure customer expectations are met and timelines are adhered to.
  • Quality Control: Read and interpret construction documentation, ensuring that all work meets design specifications and quality standards.
  • Safety Standards: Adhere to safety protocols, maintain a clean and organised work site, and ensure team members work in a safe environment.

Travel for Projects: Be available to work on out-of-town projects as required. Some upcoming jobs will involve being away for up to two weeks at a time. All accommodation, travel, and food costs are covered by Aspen.

The Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for a passionate, experienced, and dependable leader with the following attributes:
  • Technical Experience (Non-Negotiable): Proven hands-on experience in concreting, paving, and timber construction - including decking, pergolas, and retaining structures.
  • Leadership: A reliable leader who can guide a team confidently, think on their feet, and maintain momentum on complex builds.
  • Adaptability & Problem-Solving: Highly adaptable with the ability to troubleshoot issues quickly and effectively on site.
  • Craftsmanship: An eye for detail and a commitment to producing top-tier work that meets the aesthetic and functional needs of clients.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with clients, project managers, and team members to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Professionalism: A strong work ethic and a focus on delivering exceptional service and quality.
  • Willingness to Travel: Comfortable working “away” when required, with the ability to manage a team and maintain the Aspen standard while off-site.
