This company is well-established, highly respected, and continuing to grow. They deliver large-scale commercial and industrial projects across Auckland, and now need a hands-on Accounts Receivable / Claims Manager to take full ownership of their billing, claims, and financial accuracy.
About the Role
You’ll be the go-to person for everything related to accounts receivable, invoicing, and claims. Working closely with both the finance team and operations, you’ll ensure that every project is accurately billed, cash is collected promptly, and financial reporting remains tight and reliable.
This is a broad, hands-on role that will see you involved in everything from preparing progress claims and reconciling accounts through to investigating P&L variances and supporting month-end close. Key Responsibilities- End-to-end management of the Accounts Receivable function including billing, reconciliations, and collections.
- Prepare and issue progress claims, credit notes, and final invoices in line with contract terms.
- Investigate P&L variances and ensure accurate allocation of costs to projects.
- Maintain detailed financial records and job tracking across multiple ongoing projects.
- Manage bank reconciliations, accruals, and month-end reporting.
- Liaise with project managers and site teams to verify completion details and ensure correct invoicing.
- Maintain and improve Excel-based reporting tools and financial spreadsheets.
- Identify and resolve billing discrepancies and work collaboratively to prevent recurrence.
- Prepare data and reports for management and external auditors as required.
- Support the finance team with ad-hoc analysis, forecasting, and system improvements.
- 5+ years’ experience in accounts receivable, claims management, or project accounting ideally within construction
- Strong technical knowledge of invoicing, accruals, and job costing.
- Excellent Excel and data management skills with confidence handling large datasets and reconciliations.
- Experience with P&L reporting, bank reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Strong communication skills and ability to liaise confidently with both internal and external stakeholders.

- Experience using Xero or similar accounting platforms.
