Rascal is hunting for a talented chef to join our tight-knit crew in the heart of Christchurch. If you thrive on seasonal produce, love the buzz of an open kitchen, and get excited about menus that actually evolve, keep reading.

What's Rascal?

We're a modern bistro and dining bar slinging shared plates, snacks, and the kind of seasonal fare that keeps guests (and us) on our toes. Think vibrant, approachable food in a space where the kitchen is the dining room. No hiding back here—you're front and center, which we reckon is half the fun.

We're currently open Tuesday to Saturdays, which includes 3 lunch services (no super early starts or late finishes).

You Might Be Our Person If:
  • You've got 2+ years under your apron leading similar style/ fast-paced kitchens.
  • You're equally comfortable leading the line or flying solo on opens/closes.?You are competent in working in a small tight knit team environment.
  • You get genuinely excited about changing menus and learning new techniques.
  • You're cool, calm, and collected when the heat's on (literally and figuratively)
  • You don't mind being on show—our open kitchen means all eyes on deck
  • You're Christchurch-based with NZ work rights (sorry, we're not accredited employers)
