Sous Chef - Full time - Christchurch

We’re looking for a talented Sous Chef to join our kitchen team at The Grand Hotel. Reporting directly to the Head Chef, this role is your chance to develop your skills, support a passionate team, and work in one of New Zealand’s most stunning coastal towns.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position through to 1 May 2026, with the potential to extend to a permanent full-time role beyond that date. You’ll be guaranteed a minimum of 30–35 hours per week.

What you’ll be doing:

• Supporting the Head Chef and working closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Collaborating with the front-of-house team to deliver a seamless guest experience.
• Ensuring high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and equipment care.
• Stepping up when challenges arise, keeping calm under pressure, and pitching in wherever needed to keep the kitchen moving.

• At least 2 years of culinary experience, with a passion for creating memorable dining experiences.
• A self-motivated, dependable team player with strong initiative.
• Flexible, adaptable, and happy to jump in and help out wherever the team needs.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
• Strong organisation, time management, and attention to detail.
• Availability to work weekends and public holidays.

• Full menu training provided to gear up for summer.
