About the RoleAs a designated Medical Officer of Health / Public Health Medicine specialist, you will provide professional leadership for the delivery of public health/population health services across the region.

This is a 12

-month fixed term role based in Wellington.In this role, you will undertake the statutory duties and responsibilities of a designated Medical Officer of Health including participating in an on-call roster.
You will work in partnership with colleagues in Te Ikaroa National Public Health Service to share responsibility for the professional quality of public health work.
You will provide public health medicine advice and guidance around the delivery of a cohesive, effective, and equitable health system to ensure better health outcomes for the population.About the Team/Service/ LocationThe National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand

  • Extensive clinical experience and expertise in public health medicine, with appropriate tertiary level professional qualificationHold a registered medical practitioner current Annual Practising Certificate and vocational registration as a specialist medical practitioner in a relevant speciality (FNZCPHM, FAFPHM) or similarAlready designated as a Medical Officer of Health in New ZealandExperience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in actionProven knowledge of equity models and practice in professional fieldUnderstanding of the New Zealand health sectorCurrent full driver's licenceWorking for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
