Community Mental Health Nurse - Kapiti - 0.6 FTE

Contract: Permanent, Part Time 0.6 FTE, Monday - Friday

About the Role

As a Community Mental Health Nurse, you will be working with the MDT consisting of Psychiatrists, Psychologist, Registered Nurses, Social worker and Admin staff. You will be allocated a caseload of clients who you will manage autonomously with the support of the MDT.

Your days will be varied, and you will need to be flexible and be able to prioritise your caseload. You will be required to ensure that you manage the KPIs of the service. You will develop interface with other services and the local NGOs. You will be required to ensure your clinical practice is up to date with willingness to continue with education.

You will work Mon - Fri, within the hours of 0830-1700hrs. Days could be negotiated.

About the Team/Service Location

We are an adult community mental health team covering the Kapiti district, from Paekakariki to Peka Peka. We are an experienced team and made up of Psychiatrists, Psychologist, Mental health nurses, Social Worker and an Admin team. We welcome students and NESPs to our team.

We see the population with moderate - severe mental illness and work closely with many different services. Our Psychologist and other clinicians run Psychology workshops on base for our service users who would benefit from this.

We work closely with NGOs in the area and have a Respite house close by for our clients to use when appropriate.

We are based alongside the Kapiti Health Centre, close to public transport and have free parking. With Transmission Gully close by, we are only a short drive from Porirua and Wellington.

About you
  • You will be a registered mental health nurse with appropriate training in mental health (ie NESP programme)
  • You will have some post registration experience
  • You will be able to role model excellent care and practice
  • You will be a Team player with a good sense of humour and ability to work alongside all disciplines
