We have a wonderful opportunity for the right person to come work with us here in the lovely Titahi Bay in our children's respite house! We provide short stays for children with intellectual disabilities so their parents can have a break. The house is known as Alasdair Clark Respite and it has its own space within the grounds of the Kemp hospital in Titahi bay.We are close to the beach and we have a beautiful new space that was recently refurbished prior to us moving in.
Our House Leader role involves engaging and motivating a team of Support Workers in the house to deliver a service that aligns with Enabling Good Lives Principles. Working alongside and gaining guidance from your Service Coordinator, you would be supervising the day to day running of the house and liaising with families, schools, taxis, and stakeholders.The role is challenging and demanding but also very rewarding. You will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced staff but also the opportunity to help train new staff. We are in the process of bringing new children into the house so we can provide respite for their families and being able to help settle new children into the house will be part of what's needed right now.
The role could be worked across Monday to Sunday. The current house leader worked Monday to Friday and if you prefer weekends off, this could be you too.

What you'll need:
- The ability to communicate effectively to the people you will support, their families and the team including your manager- you may need to learn a range of communication styles, our people sometimes use tools to communicate.
- The ability to lead, coach and develop team members, and to troubleshoot
- Experience supporting people with disabilities and understanding positive behaviour support
- Ability to organise and allocate rosters and handle the booking calendar for attendance.
- A full driver's license (essential)
- A relevant qualification or the willingness to acquire one and continue learning.
- The ability to use a computer effectively, including programs such as Word, Internet Explorer, and email
