About the Role Weare looking fora Registered Nurse/Registered Midwife to work alongside us at the Regional Termination ofPregnancy Service.You will enjoy working withina small team, have a willingness to learn and develop, and have sound timemanagement skills.
You will be flexible and compassionate,emphasising partnership and advocacy in your approach to care. Registered nurses in Te Mahoe have a crucial role providing patient-centred care to facilitate deeply personal decisions aboutreproductive health.
This will include detailed explanations of procedures,managing emotions, offering support throughout the process, and educating aboutpost-abortion care. We are also theDay Unit for Women's Clinics and you would be required to care and supportwomen undergoing minor gynaecological procedures.
This role isMonday to Friday working either 0800 to 1630 or 0700 to 1530hrsRNs may be asked to hold theon call phone after hours and Saturdays but only after a period of orientationand practice consolidation.About theTeamTeMahoe has a small team of dedicated health professionals who provide a regionaltermination of pregnancy and counselling service.
The Team is multidisciplinaryconsisting of Administration staff, Registered Nurses, Doctors,Counsellors/Social Workers and a HealthCare Assistant. We also work alongsidestaff in Women's Clinics to support individuals through minor gynaecologicalprocedures.
We are a friendly and supportive team, working collaboratively toensure the best outcomes for the people accessing our service. Aboutyou Nurses and Midwives working in Te Mahoeshould have a minimum of 3 years nursing experience in New Zealand.
Must be interested in Women'sReproductive Health and will be given training on working within the currentabortion law. It is preferable that RN/ RM'sworking in this unit are certified in IV cannulation and able to administer IVsedation and opioid pain relief.

You will be supported to attend the in housesafe sedation workshop to update your knowledge and skills.Post op recovery skills, PACU, ICU orsurgical nursing experience is an advantage. RN/RM's must have the ability to workwithin a small multi-disciplinary and nursing/midwifery team, be flexible andadapt to changing work patterns depending on patient's needs.RNs/ RM's will be encouraged to join APGANZ (AbortionProviders Group Aotearoa New Zealand) and the Women's Health College of NZNO sothey can remain current in all research and opinions in this field.
