Archway are excited to be working with a reputable organisation looking for a Payroll Advisor to join their team. This role would be perfect for someone with a solid payroll background looking for the next step in their payroll career, in an organisation with genuine career growth pathways.
About the Role
The purpose of this role is to provide a customer focused, efficient and effective payroll administration, processing and advisory service by carrying out the day-to-day tasks required in the accurate preparation, completion, maintenance and investigation of payroll matters. You will support the Senior Payroll Advisor, Payroll Team Leader and Payroll Manager in the accurate processing of the pay and coordinate the daily operation of the Payroll Team workflow. Beyond this, you will do the following:
- Process payroll information into the system, ensuring all payments are accurate and made to employees in a timely manner
- Input special requests, do bulk uploads and process complex calculations.
- Input long term leave, parental and secondments.
- Ensure accurate reconciliation of payroll accounts to balance sheet, preparation of PAYE and ACC returns and superannuation schemes and related processes are known and documented.
- Review and verify payroll checking reports for accuracy, providing necessary adjustments or corrections through established processes
- Work with customers and HR to resolve any problems arising from payroll queries or associated activities. Apply technical knowledge of payroll systems and processes to influence behaviour change within the team or organisation, where appropriate
- Ensure compliance with NZ employment legislation and collective agreements
- Support audits, reporting cycles, and process improvement initiatives
You will have prior experience processing the end to end pay run for a New Zealand payroll. You will be adaptable, ambitious and committed to process improvements. Beyond this, you will ideally have the following skills:
- Experience processing payroll in a high volume, complex environment utilising a Tier One or Two payroll system
- Strong understanding of NZ Holidays Act, KiwiSaver, ACC, and IRD requirements
- High attention to detail and a proactive, solutions-focused approach
- Strong interpersonal skills—you'll work closely with staff across all levels
- The ability to be discrete and confidential when handling sensitive information
