Senior role mentoring and developing others

  • Enhanced Kiwisaver contribution and wellness subsidies
  • Exciting period of growth and change

Archway are delighted to be recruiting for this newly created Senior Payroll Administrator position with an organisation going through an exciting period of change. You will join a friendly and experienced team in a large well known organisation.

This role is perfect for someone who's got a fantastic foundational skill base in payroll and is detail-oriented, improvement focused, and is looking to grow their career in payroll. You'll be part of a collaborative environment where you will both be mentored, but also help with mentoring in a supportive, friendly and diverse team.

The Role:

The purpose of the Senior Payroll Administrator role is to provide customer focused, efficient and effective payroll administration, processing and advisory service by carrying out the day-to-day tasks required in the accurate preparation, completion, maintenance and investigation of payroll matters. You will support the Payroll Team Leader and Payroll Manager in the accurate processing of the pay and coordinate the daily operation of the Payroll Team workflow. Your key day to day tasks include the following:

  • Responsible for running main pays, processing taxation, superannuation, relevant pay run reports and general ledger.
  • Ensure accurate reconciliation of payroll accounts to balance sheet, preparation of PAYE and ACC returns and superannuation schemes
  • Process payroll information into relevant HR systems, accurately to ensure all payments are made to employees in an accurate, timely manner.
  • As a subject matter expert for the team act as a mentor and monitor and review work of junior team members, providing feedback as appropriate to ensure understanding of, and compliance to, the correct processes and procedures.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities within the team to ensure enhanced service delivery.
  • Work with customers and HR to resolve any problems arising from payroll queries or associated activities. Apply technical knowledge of payroll systems and processes to influence behaviour change within the team or organisation, where appropriate.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with customer groups and an understanding of their work areas
About You:

You will have prior experience processing the end to end pay run for a large, complex, New Zealand payroll. You will be adaptable, ambitious and committed to process improvement. Beyond this, you will ideally have the following skills:

  • Experience processing payroll in a high volume, complex environment utilising a Tier One or Two payroll system.
  • Strong understanding of the Holidays Act, employment law, KiwiSaver, ACC, and tax requirements
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring or leading others
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • A detail-oriented mindset with a proactive and collaborative approach
  • The ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
Benefits:

In return, you will secure a permanent role with a reputable organisation that is going through an exciting period of growth and change. Your position will be one pivotal to leading the implementation of the change and improvements to the payroll function, which could be a massive boost to the CV, and help build your career toward eventual leadership responsibilities, if this is something you aspire to. Beyond your salary, you will receive the following benefits:

  • Enhanced KiwiSaver contribution
  • Wellness benefits & discounts
  • Supportive team culture with ongoing training and mentoring
  • Flexible working arrangements to support work-life balance

This is a fantastic opportunity to build and demonstrate your payroll knowledge and leadership capability while working for a values-driven organisation that makes a difference.
