Job Description

AFFCO is a leading player in New Zealand's meat industry, supplying quality products to the world. We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Industrial Electrician to join our maintenance team at our Wairoa plant.

In this pivotal role, you will be the backbone of our daily operations, ensuring our high-tech processing machinery and site infrastructure operate at peak performance to minimize downtime.

What you'll be doing:
  • Fault Finding & Repair: Rapidly diagnosing and repairing faults on processing machinery, conveyors, packaging lines, and refrigeration systems.
  • Preventative Maintenance: executing scheduled maintenance to prevent breakdowns before they happen.
  • PLC & Automation: Working with PLCs, VSDs, and automated control systems to optimize plant efficiency.
  • Installations: Assisting with the installation and commissioning of new plant and equipment.
  • Safety First: adhering strictly to Health & Safety protocols and electrical standards.

Qualifications

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate the following key requirements for the role:
  • A proactive approach that ensures the production departments experience minimal down time due to maintenance requirements,
  • Possess strong time management skill in order to prioritise projects when required,
  • A proactive approach to daily routine with strong organisational skills,
  • A strong commitment to upholding health and safety standards,
  • Strong problem-solving skills,
  • Appropriate qualifications (NZQF Level 4 or recognised equivalent).
  • Hold a current electrical practising licence either full registration or limited license (see below).
  • Knowledge of Industrial communication protocols, such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus RTU and TCP/IP.
  • PLC / HMI / programming experience across various platforms (i.e. Allen Bradley, Schneider).
  • Ignition SCADA programming experience.
We will consider applicants that hold a Limited certificate issued by the EWRB. We will need to review details of your "Registration Class Overseas Experience" pathway and the conditions that must be met to gain your full registration including your 8000 hours or 4 years' experience in the industry.
