Despatcher/Driver Trainer
- Small knit team, in a busy and varied operation
- Ability to make the role your own
- Bring your strong people leadership skills and technical know-how
We are a transport and storage operation, providing services to a wide range of customers. With two depots in Auckland, and more in Christchurch, we pride ourselves on our ability to be nimble and responsive, while providing a quality service to our partners.
We are looking to fill a new role that wears several hats in our busy Penrose transport-based operation.
This role will spend the majority of time on despatching 12 trucks ranging from class 2 to 5, working with 12 drivers on a daily basis.
This involves working in conjunction with the Operations Supervisor to plan, schedule and arrange trucks and people to meet our customers' requirements. This part of the role requires the ability to think on your feet and change a plan on a moment's notice, all with a calm and measured approach to instil confidence with our stakeholders. We anticipate that the despatch part of this role will be 4-5 hours per day (although this will vary on any given day).
The remaining part of this position involves coaching our driving team on their technical skills, ranging from driving skills, to load restraints, load planning, customer service skills and how to operate in the safest possible way. This will include completing coaching and driver training, as well as formal pre-employment and regular assessment.Being able to provide feedback in a constructive way will be an important skill to have to be successful in this role.
And, on any given day, if driver absence is going to impact the ability for us to execute our delivery plan, you will jump in a truck and be a driver as required.
This role is a great role for an experienced driver with the right mindset, to step into that next level of responsibility, or likewise a great opportunity to bring your already established skills to our fun team environment.
