Join NZTA Waka Kotahi as Our Next Chief of StaffAre you ready to take on a pivotal role at NZTA Waka Kotahi, where you can make a significant impact on New Zealand's land transport system?We are looking for a dynamic and strategic Chief of Staff to join our team in Wellington.

This is a pivotal role which will see you working closely with our Chief Executive, Executive Leadership Team (ELT), and Board, providing strategic advice and subject matter expertise on key organisational priorities
  • including corporate governance.

You will also lead the Office of the Chief Executive, ensuring alignment between strategy and action across the organisation.Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunityAs the Chief of Staff, you will be at the heart of our organisation, providing sound policy, strategic and operational advice to the Chief Executive, improving alignment between strategy and action by providing guidance and working in a way that supports people across Waka Kotahi.Your ability to build and maintain key stakeholder relationships will be essential in ensuring effective communication and collaboration across all levels of the organisation including the CE, ELT, Minister, Ministry, Iwi, Crown Agencies, and NZTA Chair and Board members.You will be responsible for drafting important communications, such as OIA requests, Ministerial responses, and reviewing Board papers, ensuring that we provide consistent and professional service across the organisation whilst having a key role in identifying and prioritising strategic focus areas, key metrics, and deliverables to ensure we meet our objectives.This role will be required to maintain a proactive awareness of current and potential issues, managing minor issues while escalating significant ones to the Chief Executive or relevant Chief/GGM as required.You will lead the team which provides advisory and administration support to the CE and ensure efficient workflow through the Office of the CE by maintaining oversight and management or correspondence, requests, meetings and briefings.This role is critical in ensuring that NZTA Waka Kotahi achieves its strategic objectives and maintains effective governance and stakeholder relationships.To view a copy of the position description, click here.Ko koe tēnei | About youWe are looking for someone with deep institutional knowledge of government agencies, leadership experience at the executive level, and a strong understanding of the political landscape and Land Transport sector (preferred but not essential).
