- manaaki (care) and awhina (help)The role of a Healthcare Assistant varies from day to day.You will be there to make sure that the service is running smoothly and to itshighest potential while assisting the nursing team with a variety of tasks onthe ward which could include:Keeping the environment tidy and organisedOrdering and restocking of suppliesCommunicating with and supporting patients Ensuring patient safety and that patients have the best experience possibleHelping out the three Gynaecology Outpatients Services which have the same team/staff that also rotate around the unitsYou will enjoy being busy and don't mind that the role canbe at times be physically demanding.

About the ServiceWe have 3x departments in our Gynaecology OutpatientsService, Gynaecology Procedure Unit, Colposcopy and Hysteroscopy Unit andGynaecology Outpatient Service.Our services provide care to over 10,000 womena year.
We see patients referred from GP practices, other specialists and theNational Cervical Screening Programme.
We see patients for a range of reasonsincluding pre/post gynaecology operations, fertility, urogynaecology, gynaeoncology, pelvic pain, miscarriage management, difficult contraception insertions,terminations, biopsies, colposcopy and hysteroscopy.About youYou will enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team,have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, a high level ofconfidentiality, and the ability to work well under pressure.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to engage wellEffective problem solving and decision making skillsAbility to work efficiently and effectively in a multidisciplinary teamInitiative and a proactive approach to workExcellent interpersonal skills and team workStrong computer skills and administration experience would be an advantageIdeally experience as a Healthcare Assistant or similarWorking at Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
