About the business
The Addington Hostel has been providing housing for men in Christchurch for the last 130 years. We are a 24-hour staffed site with Support Workers being a core of our staff across the day and night.
About the role
We are wanting two more casual Support Workers to join our team and to provide cover for staff on holiday, sick or training. We mainly need staff in the afternoon, as well as night shifts and weekends. You will work alongside other Support Workers on the shift to oversee the practical day to day needs of the hostel and the men who live here.
Your responsibilities will include the following:
- Medication allocation
- Food services
- Supporting the men in their journey of recovery
- Security of the site and those living here
- Support the day to day needs of the site
Our ideal candidate:
- Must have completed at least the Level 3 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (or approved equivalent)
- You need to be undertaking or have completed the Level 4 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (or approved equivalent)
- Have at least one year of experience in support work in a related field such as housing, mental health, addictions or corrections type of service
- Be comfortable working in an all male hostel (we have majority female staff)
- Able to work evenings/weekends as that will be when we need casual staff

This role is casual and hours worked will be on an as needed basis each week.
The starting hourly rate for this role will fall between $26.94 (Level 3) and $29.10 (Level 4).
