Due to continued growth, we’re looking for a technically credible Business Development Manager to drive mid-market to large commercial and agricultural solar opportunities. This is a true hunter role — building pipeline, winning projects, and turning complex opportunities into long-term value.
The Role
As Business Development Manager, you’ll own the full sales lifecycle:- Prospect and win the right work: Originate, qualify, and close medium-to-large commercial and agricultural solar projects.
- Consult and build credibility: Connect with business owners, operations managers, facility managers, farmers, and industrial decision-makers. Tailor proposals, present financial outcomes, and create bankable business cases.
- Collaborate for impact: Work closely with design and engineering teams to translate customer needs into robust, buildable solar solutions.
- Manage your patch: Maintain pipeline, track opportunities in CRM, and move projects from first conversation through to signed contract.
- Champion better practice: Ethical procurement, waste minimization, and sustainability built into every deal.
What We’re Looking For
We want someone who combines technical credibility, commercial acumen, and consultative sales skill:- New Business Hunter: Experienced in originating and closing high-value, project-based B2B deals, confidently opening doors with executives, farmers, facility managers, and Agri/industrial decision-makers.
- Technical & Commercial Credibility: Strong knowledge of electrical or energy systems, able to discuss load profiles, system sizing, ROI, and leverage engineering support where needed.
- Consultative Sales Style: Practical, prepared, and solutions-focused; able to build trust over longer sales cycles.
- Deal Discipline: Skilled at managing pipeline and CRM rigorously, independently progressing opportunities from prospecting through to signed contract.
- Commercial Focus: Experienced in qualifying and selling projects that align with strategic business objectives, typically $75k+ in value.
- Personal Fit: Organised, self-directed, collaborative, and motivated by sustainable growth rather than short-term wins.
- Impactful projects: Deliver commercial and agricultural solar solutions that matter — financially and environmentally.

Location
Head Office and this role is based in Rangiora, with semi-regular travel across Canterbury and the South Island. However, due to the scope of work we are also open to the right team member being based from Timaru for this position.
