Key Responsibilities- Install and Maintain Electrical Systems: Install, troubleshoot, and maintain industrial electrical systems, including wiring, control panels, motors, and other equipment, ensuring compliance with New Zealand electrical standards and regulations.
- Perform Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose and Repair Faults: Identify and troubleshoot electrical issues in machinery, control systems, and other equipment, performing repairs or replacements as needed to restore functionality.
- Read and Interpret Schematics: Analyse electrical schematics, and technical diagrams to install, repair, or modify electrical systems and components.
- Ensure Safety Compliance: Adhere to and enforce safety regulations, including lockout/tagout procedures, to maintain a safe working environment.
- Program and Maintain PLCs: Configure, program, and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and other automated control systems to support industrial processes.
- Test Electrical Systems: Use testing equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and thermal imagers to verify the performance and integrity of electrical systems.
- Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with maintenance teams, engineers, and production staff to coordinate repairs, upgrades, and installations, minimizing disruptions to operations.
- Document Work Performed: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections, including updating logs and reporting issues to supervisors.
- Upgrade Systems: Assist in the design and implementation of electrical system upgrades or modifications to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
- Perform Additional Duties: Undertake other related tasks as directed by supervisors to support the team and meet company objectives.
About You
If you are a registered Electrical Technician who meets the following requirements, we’d love to hear from you.
Qualifications:- New Zealand Electrical Registration with a current Practising Licence.
- Full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic expertise across various OEM equipment.
- Experience in PLC programming and automation system interrogation.
- Advanced motor control knowledge, including Variable Speed Drives (VSD) and Soft Starters (SS).
- Proficiency in instrumentation and control systems.
- Solid mechanical aptitude to complement electrical expertise.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage tasks efficiently.
- Excellent organisational skills with a focus on achieving objectives.
- Outstanding communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
- Positive attitude with a commitment to ongoing training and professional development.
- Willingness to work overtime or flexible hours as needed.
