This is a rare opportunity in Nelson’s joinery industry for an experienced Production Manager to take ownership of scheduling, CAD detailing, CNC/machining, and project delivery. You’ll lead a skilled in-house team and manage outsourced detailing partners to keep projects running smoothly, on time, and to the highest standards.

You’ll be joining at an exciting stage of growth and transformation, with a brand-new ERP/Job Management system, upgraded design software, a new showroom, and a roadmap of improvements already underway. It’s the perfect time to bring your expertise to shape the systems, processes, and capabilities that support premium craftsmanship.

This is a hands-on management role, where you’ll also run projects directly — drawing on your CAD and project management skills while guiding the wider production team.

• Plan and manage production scheduling, balancing capacity & deadlines
• Lead, mentor and roster detailers/project managers and CNC/machining staff; set clear KPIs and standards
• Coordinate internal and external drafting resources (Microvellum) and ensure shop drawings are accurate and to quality standards
• Contribute to the production team effort, managing and CAD detailing your own share of jobs directly.
• Manage and oversee Machining, including management of the CNC Operator and responsibility for machine (CNC & Edge-bander) performance and maintenance.
• Work closely with the Foreman to prioritise and ensure the smooth flow of work from the production team, machining and into the workshop
• Work closely with the Head of Design & Sales in managing capacity planning and job scheduling
• Support competitive commercial tendering
• Ensure Health & Safety policies and practices are adhered to and compliance requirements met
• Own materials planning, supplier coordination and inventory efficiency
• Act as a technical go-to for designers, workshop, and installers; support training and upskilling.
• Manage issues and complaints, resolving fast and professionally.
• Drive efficiency, quality and continuous improvement

• Proven leadership in joinery/cabinetry production.
• Deep technical knowledge across materials, CAD, CNC machining, assembly, and installation.
• Strong organisational and people leadership skills; a positive, solutions-driven manager.
