Finance Administrator - Christchurch
TL;DR: We’re looking for a Finance Administrator who can keep our books spotless, our processes humming, and our team powered up. This isn’t a “heads down, data entry” finance role, you’ll have your hands in every part of the engine room, from payroll to multi-entity reconciliations, working closely with our founders and ops team to keep Komodo moving fast (and smart).

The Role

This is an in-person role in our Christchurch HQ, where the pace is quick, the playlists are good, and no two weeks are the same.You’ll own the financial processes that keep Komodo running from paying the team on time, to chasing invoices across time zones, to making sure our cash flow forecast tells us what’s coming before it arrives.

- Location: Christchurch, NZ (HQ based, in-person)
- Hours: 20 hours per week (Wednesday + TBD with candidate)
- Salary: $30–40 NZD/hour, depending on experience
- Managing payroll (NZ + global via Deel)
- Reconciling transactions across three entities
- Sending customer invoices and handling follow-ups
- Reviewing and coding expense claims
- Owning GST/VAT returns (NZ, AU, UAE)
- Preparing our weekly ops reporting pack
- Forecasting cash flow and flagging ahead
- Coordinating with our external finance consultants globally
- Recent, hands-on experience managing day-to-day finances in Xero (invoicing, reconciliations, expense management)
- Highly organised, methodical, and detail-focused
- Clear and confident communicator, able to explain financial matters to both finance and non-finance team members
- Proactive in spotting financial red flags before they wave
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment where you’ll often shift between detail work and big-picture thinking
- Experience processing payroll
- Experience working across multiple currencies and entities
- Familiarity with tools like Wise, Deel, and Slack
