HR & Health and Safety Lead

Scott’s Ag Contracting Ltd is a long-established, multi-division contracting business operating across agriculture, earthworks, and civil works. We’re looking for an experienced HR & Health and Safety Lead to provide leadership, oversight, and practical support across people and safety.

• HR leadership, employment compliance, and people advice
• Recruitment, onboarding frameworks, and role clarity
• Performance management and employee relations support
• Health & Safety system ownership and continuous improvement
• Incident oversight, investigations, and corrective actions
• Audit and prequalification management (e.g. Totika, Immigration accreditation)
• Coaching managers on practical, compliant people and safety practices

• Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and seasonal demands
• A self-starter who takes ownership and works proactively
• Comfortable identifying gaps, risks, and issues without direction
• Solution-focused, practical, and calm under pressure
• Confident creating, improving, and embedding systems and workflows
• Able to balance compliance with real-world operational needs
• Comfortable exercising judgement and having difficult conversations when required

• Strong HR, payroll, and Health & Safety experience in an NZ environment
• Sound knowledge of the Employment Relations Act 2000 and HSWA 2015
• Proven payroll processing experience and strong attention to detail
• Experience supporting managers through complex people and safety matters
• Familiarity with SiteDocs, Totika, SiteWise, or similar systems advantageous but not essential
• Experience in contracting, construction, or primary industries favourable, not essential

• Negotiable hours (approx. 30–37.5 per week)
