Transpower has a dual role as New Zealand's owner and system operator of the National Grid. As the transmission network asset owner, we keep the energy flowing - transporting high voltage electricity from where it is generated to cities, towns, and some major industrial users nationwide.
As System Operator, we operate the electricity market and power system 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. A lifeline utility and essential service, the power behind our business is our people. About the teamGrid Skills & Operational Training is part of the Sector Workforce Development group and provides training solution advice and designs, develops, and delivers training programmes using various tools and learning channels, including simulator environments.
Our audiences are Transpower employees who manage and support the power system, over 4000 maintenance workers who maintain Transpower's Grid Assets through Service Provider contracts, and Transpower's Customers.About the OpportunityContribute to the delivery of simulator-based training for Transpower's National Grid Operations Centres (NGOC) and Operations division staff.

NGOC plans and manages outages on our high voltage national electricity transmission grid, which consists of 170 substations, 25,000 transmission towers, and more than 11,000 kilometres of lines that run the length and breadth of the country.Utilising your passion for technical/systems training, you'll collaborate with your team members and with Transpower Operations Managers to deliver team training and training for new starts.This mahi is critical to building the capability of our people working with key systems, processes and tools used to deliver the management and operation of the New Zealand power and market systems.Some travel is required—usually every two months—for short, well-planned trips to our control rooms in Auckland and Christchurch, as well as our head office in Wellington.

You'll work with a diverse range of people and make a real impact by supporting and enabling the energy future of Aotearoa.What will you bring?Ideally, you'll have experience in teaching and learning in an operational environment with Simulator Training (electricity, airlines, maritime, medical, defence, police etc), however we are open to someone who is tech savvy with outstanding people skills!Your CV and cover letter will demonstrate Experience in coaching to build capability of others in the workplace using tools and technology to support learner achievement.

Training experience in complex systems environments. Ability to work with technical SME's to extract information needed to design an appropriate solution for learners. Strong planning skills, with the ability to balance multiple initiatives in a dynamic environment.
Experience in implementing academic quality assurance practices including assessment.
