General farm worker
Braxton is a 1200ha flat to rolling sheep and beef property, located 5 minutes from Mossburn in stunning Northern Southland. Mossburn is a great little community with rugby club, Dog Trial Club, Playgroup and Primary School.
We require a shepherd/general to join our team working alongside our Block Manager . Running 7000 Ewes, 2000 replacement hoggets, and 100 breeding cows. All stock is finished on farm, with trading stock brought in when the season allows.
The role will include, but not be limited to:- Regular Stock movements
- Yard work - drenching, vaccinating, crutching, dipping, weighing
- Tractor work - ground prep, drilling, feeding out, topping
- Fencing new & repairs, electric fencing in winter
- General farm repairs & maintenance
The ideal applicant will have:
- Experience with stock handling
- Tractor experience
- At least 1 working dog
- The ability to work efficiently on your own and as part of the team
- A can- do attitude with the confidence to give things a go
- Able to communicate effectively via text, email and in person
- Honest, reliable & willing to learn
We offer a supportive work environment with plenty of opportunity to learn and progress in the industry. Hours are fulltime Monday- Friday with weekends worked on a roster in winter and during peak work times. A warm 3 bedroom home is available on farm, up to current Healthy Homes standards.
Salary negotiable depending on experience.
