The Hamilton Cosmopolitan Club is under New Management!
Our restaurant is a critical part of our business that allows us to continue to serve our loyal members and community. With a club rich in history, supporting a new vision for our restaurant, we are on the hunt for experienced cooks and a kitchen hand to join our tightknit team.You will need to be comfortable preparing or producing bistro meals, including our lunch and dinner menu and preparing catering for functions. You will report to the Executive Chef working to deliver a great customer experience, great food in a happy workplace.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking for stability, a young aspiring chef keen to settle and grow with the business or someone experienced seeking a new challenge. We are expecting around 20-30 hours of work per week with additional hours available.Some flexibility is needed as in all Hospitality.
Must have experience:- No less than 2 years proven culinary experience.
- Experience with small, medium to large scale catering.
- Ability to troubleshoot and come up with on-the-spot solutions.
- The ability to work fast and with a small team.
- Sound knowledge of different cuisines or open to learning as well as food health and safety regulations.
- A strong understanding of modern diets.
- Experience or understanding of a club environment is preferred but not necessary.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Detail-oriented.
- Prepare and produce all items related to the menus and functions to the establishment’s standard, to satisfy diner expectations.
- Cleaning & Sanitation: Washing dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment; mopping floors; cleaning benchtops, ovens, and other surfaces; taking out trash and recycling.
- Food Preparation: Peeling, chopping, slicing, washing vegetables; preparing salads, sandwiches, and other simple dishes; measuring ingredients.
- Stock & Inventory: Unloading food deliveries, storing supplies, checking expiry dates, and restocking kitchen supplies.
- Assisting Chefs: Helping with plating, basic cooking (heating/toasting), and other tasks as directed by senior kitchen staff.
- Uphold morale in the kitchen and other departments.
- Communicate with and support staff.
- Attend kitchen meetings.
- Set the example of professional practice to all staff members.
- Understand, implement, and support the companies’ policies.
