Mexico Restaurant is looking for three CDP to join our team. Mexico Restaurant is looking for fun, fabulous Senors and Senoritas who have have a qualification in Hospitality and at least 3 year kitchen experience in a busy restaurant including at least 1 year experience in preparing Mexican food to join our team.

As a CDP, you’ll work in a high volume kitchen, to prepare and cook food, working in a supportive team environment. We are searching for someone who views chefing as their career and thrives under the pressure of a fast-paced kitchen environment.

You will also possess excellent communication skills, outstanding hygiene standards and an ability to work in a team!

This position requires 7-day availability, including nights, split shifts, short shifts, and weekends. Embrace a dynamic schedule that keeps you engaged and energized. If you're ready to take on the challenge, please note that working on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings is compulsory.

The tasks at hand include (but are not limited to):
  • Working as an integral member of the Mexico team to achieve a profitable food and beverage operation.
  • Contribute to Developing and monitoring kitchen budgets, considering labour, ingredient, and equipment costs
  • Assist in designing and planning Mexican menus based on seasonal trends, customer preferences, and costs including food and labour costs estimation by collaborating with the management.
  • Orders and maintains inventory of food and kitchen supplies, ensuring it meets daily production needs
  • Hands-on the preparation of the Mexican menu during service periods according to recipes, ensuring excellent and consistent food is served.
  • Assist in Overseeing the recruitment, development, and training of chefs and other kitchen staff, also have to shortlist and train staff as needed
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to other chefs and cooks when necessary.
  • Supervise the preparation and presentation of dishes, Demonstrate techniques and advise on cooking procedures
  • Freeze and preserve foods as necessary
  • Utilize and teach advanced culinary skills and techniques required to prepare menu items
  • Inspect ingredients and dishes to ensure quality standards are met including Monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
  • Discuss food preparation issues with managers, kitchen and waiting staff
  • Coordinates with front-of-house staff to ensure efficient food service
  • Explain and enforce strict adherence to health and safety regulations in the kitchen
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate while maintaining high standards.
  • Excellent understanding of and ability to control food costs.
  • Excellent record keeping and understanding of hygiene and external auditing requirements.
  • Be comfortable curating, executing large function offerings.
  • Be comfortable liaising with the supportive directors to maximize ongoing marketing opportunities through competitions etc.

Guaranteed 30 hrs and $34.00/hour

You must have: At least 3 years kitchen experience including 1 year experience cooking in a Mexican restaurant with. Should have education in hospitality.

Applicants must have the right to work in New Zealand or be eligible to apply for an Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV).
