Restaurant Manager
We are seeking an enthusiastic Restaurant Manager with expertise in authentic Thai cuisine. The role involves overseeing daily operations, managing staff, and ensuring consistently high standards of food quality and service. The successful candidate will manage budgets and suppliers, coordinate menu development, and work closely with the kitchen team to produce traditional Thai dishes.
Location: CBD ChristchurchEmployment type: Full-time, permanent
Hours: minimum of 30 hours per week (including evening shifts and weekends)
Salary: $28 – $35 per hour, depending on experience
Key task responsibilities:
- Ordering and managing food supplies and ingredient stock
- Preparing and managing staff rosters, adjusting staffing levels in line with business demand
- Training and supervising staffs
- Planning restaurant operations, including promotions and development of new menus
- Monitoring budgets and costs, including comparison of supplier pricing
- Liaising with suppliers and coordinating maintenance when operational issues arise
- Monitoring profitability, operating costs, and overall financial performance
- Assisting wait staffs in taking orders, taking reservations and greeting guests
- Ensuring compliance with alcohol licensing and regulations
- Managing bar operations, including implementing the cocktail menu, training staff on drink preparation, and ensuring consistent quality of alcoholic beverages
Required qualification: Must hold a current Duty Manager Certificate.
Required experience and skills:
- At least 18 months of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated ability to manage day-to-day restaurant operations, including staff supervision, customer service, and service coordination in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work under pressure, resolve operational issues, and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Extensive knowledge of Thai cuisine and dining culture, with the ability to introduce and explain menu items to customers and work closely with chefs on menu planning and development of new dishes.
- Bartender skills preferred.
