Senior Stock Manager - Rangitaiki Station

The Opportunity**

Take a hands-on leadership approach to be responsible for overseeing and managing the sheep and beef operations across 3,900ha – a key role within the Station.

Working alongside the Farm Business Manager, you will drive on farm performance, develop, coach and mentor staff, introduce new ideas to the business and value the same things we do, people, animals, and the environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Optimise farm performance and improve operational processes.
  • Provide operational leadership and execution of farming operations.
  • Lead, motivate, and mentor a team of shepherds, and wider team on the Station.
  • Manage and update farm data records using Farmax, Farm IQ, and other systems
  • Ensure accurate and timely stock data recording and reporting

Key components of the role include leading a team of six to run a farm system that currently includes 8,800 Ewes (and Progeny), and a large-scale cattle trading operation running Bulls & Steers.

**The Farm**

Rangitaiki Station is New Zealand’s third largest farm, and Pamu’s second largest farm, with 8,317 ha supporting 85,000 stock units in sheep, beef and deer and run by an engaged and driven team of 22 people.

Located near Taupo, Rangitaiki Station is predominately flat – rolling country. With altitude ranging from 650m – 900m ASL, winters are long, followed by explosive spring growth.

Running a mixed sheep, beef and deer operation consisting of 10,000 Breeding Ewes + Replacements, a growing Velvet system consisting of 1000 MA Stags and 800 Hinds and a large-scale cattle trading system with Bulls & Steers.

**About You**

You bring experience in Farm Management or Operations and can support the Farm Business Manager with coordinating and managing day-to-day operations and staff on-farm.
  • Proven farm management experience
  • Experience in farm feed budgeting and implementation of business plans
  • Excellent people management experience with proven leadership and coaching skills
  • Technically savvy with a strong interest in recording technology
  • Commitment to high standards of quality and safety
  • A full team of capable dogs and a current NZ driver’s license
