Snug Lounge are on the hunt for Chefs to join the team. The positions available are permanent, full-time roles, working a minimum of 30 hours per week. The business is operational Monday – Sunday, so weekend work will be required at times. Pay rate will be between $25.50 to $33 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with key personnel to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen and its profitability
  • Observe customer demand to support in the planning of menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies
  • Preparation of menu including cooking food items, following recipes, demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures
  • Portioning and plating food, monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
  • Using high-quality ingredients, taste testing and evaluating food before service
  • Adhering to business and safety standards, storing food in temperature-controlled facilities, freezing and preserving food as required
  • Discussing food preparation processes with Managers, and relevant team members
  • Manage stock levels, placing orders, and maintaining inventories of food and equipment
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and costs
  • Assist in upskilling and training staff when required
The Person:
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
  • NZQF Diploma in relevant field (preferred) and/or equivalent 2 years’ experience in commercial kitchen (preferred)
  • A passion for hospitality
  • Willingness and desire to work as part of a busy team
