The Role:
Due to an internal promotion, we have an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Payable Officer to join our Finance team. Based in our offices in Christchurch (Hornby) and reporting to the Accounts Payable Team Lead, the Accounts Payable Officer is responsible for a variety of accounting and administration tasks relating to the efficient and effective processing of accounting transactions in addition to administering employee expense claims and company credit card reconciliations.
The role requires a high standard of accuracy and timeliness and will also be expected to look for and drive improvement. opportunities in existing processes and focus on maximising the effective utilisation of all relevant systems.
More specifically, as the Accounts Payable Officer, you will be responsible for:-- Processing and reconciling invoices and creditor statements
- Liaising with all departments regarding invoices and invoice requirements etc
- Preparing creditor payment runs with appropriate reconciliation and reporting
- Ensuring invoice compliance with associated internal policies and procedures
- Monitoring, reporting on and following up overdue invoices
- Loading new and maintaining existing vendors details
- Processing international money transfers
- Monitoring daily accruals
- A range of additional accounts tasks as required in a large complex business
Candidates will possess:
- Previous experience working in a similar accounts payable / administration related position in a busy and large-scale complex organisation
- Excellent time management skills and an exceptional level of attention to detail
- Excellent communication, relationship management and influencing skills
- A good degree of IT literacy and be able to learn new systems and be comfortable using a variety of MS Excel based spreadsheets
- A passion for accurately completing a large volume of data entry related tasks
- A strong customer service focus and the ability to manage and appropriately prioritise competing demands
- The ability to operate well as part of a team, and demonstrated energy and initiative
- The drive to accomplish goals and to be accountable for results
