Sheep and Beef Shepherd General, Western Southland

• Birchgrove Holdings is a 430 effective hectare progressive property, currently running 3100 ewes, 1000 hoggets, 270 calves, 200 R2 heifers and winter grazing 450 cows.
• We require someone who is fit, reliable, willing to learn, have a valid full driver's license and have 1-3 broken in dogs. Some level of experience is required, however training will be provided.
• An advantage of a farm this size is you will get a wide variety of work, we aim to do most things ourselves so you can learn a wide range of skills. We generally only use contractors for precision drilling of crops, making baleage and shearing.
• We offer a fantastic learning opportunity to work both alongside the property owner and to use your initiative on individual tasks. Time is put aside during work to attend our local discussion group.
• Salary is dependent on experience, and as we run an intensive lambing beat during this timeframe overtime is paid for anything over a 45hr week.
• A warm 3 bedroom home with a wetback fireplace, 2 living rooms, family bathroom & an ensuite is available
• Applicants for this position should have NZ Citizenship or Permanent residency.
• Our farm is 5 minutes from Tuatapere, in Western Southland.
