Coil Processing Operator - Auckland

At Vulcan, we’re proud to be one of Australasia’s leading metal distributors and processors. Our strength is in our people and our performance – and right now, we’re looking for a reliable and motivated Machine Operator to join our Coil Processing team in Auckland.

About the Role

In this hands-on role, you’ll operate slitters, mini slitters, forklifts, and assist in the efficient and safe processing of steel coils. This is a full-time, day shift role working 8 hours per day. Start times range between 6:00–7:00am, with finish times between 2:30–3:30pm, depending on the shift schedule.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Operating coil processing machinery (slitters, mini slitters)
  • Loading and unloading trucks, and moving coils and materials
  • Performing basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Conducting quality checks on processed and incoming materials
  • Maintaining a clean and organised work area
  • Adhering strictly to all health and safety protocols
  • Assisting with inventory and stocktaking
  • Packing customer orders and supporting dispatch
Requirements
  • Willingness to learn and operate machinery confidently
  • A strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • A safety-first mindset – you follow the rules and look out for others
  • Great communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience in a manufacturing, warehousing or machine operator role is a plus
  • Forklift licence preferred (or a willingness to get one)
  • Overhead crane experience is a plus
