Nestled in the heart of Te Anau, we are a small boutique wine bar specializing in seasonal, locally-sourced dishes designed to complement our extensive selection of wines. With a focus on high-quality, innovative food and exceptional service, we aim to create an atmosphere that feels like a second home for our guests.
We are currently seeking a skilled, motivated, and enthusiastic Chef de Partie to join our small but dynamic kitchen team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a creative environment where your contributions will directly impact our guests’ experience.
Role & Responsibilities:As a Chef de Partie at our wine bar, you will be expected to:
- Take full responsibility for your designated section within the kitchen, ensuring that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards.
- Work closely with the Head Chef to develop and refine seasonal menus that highlight local ingredients and wine pairings.
- Maintain consistency in quality, taste, and presentation while adhering to food safety standards.
- Manage stock levels and minimize wastage by using ingredients efficiently.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior kitchen staff.
- Ensure the kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently, particularly during service times.
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure a seamless guest experience.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- A passionate chef with a strong background in modern, fresh cuisine (previous experience in a similar role is a plus).
- Well-versed in kitchen operations, from preparation to service.
- A team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced, creative environment.
- Familiar with or eager to learn about wine pairings and the role food plays in enhancing the guest’s wine experience.
- Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and food safety.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
